Adrien Toyon and Ricardo Dos Santos crawl into Round 2 at Reef Hawaiian Pro

France?s Adrien Toyon and Brazil?s Ricardo Dos Santos made it into the second round (Round of 96) at the Reef Hawaiian Pro, the first of three events on the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing, after emerging triumphant in their respective Round 1 (Round of 128) heats that went down at the North Shore of Oahu in Hawaii on Friday, November 16, 2012.

Hawaii?s Gavin Gillette finished behind Toyon in second place during the 13th heat to make it through into the second round as well, while Basque Country?s Hodei Collazo and local talent Koa Rothman got eliminated from the competition after rounding out the bottom-two positions.

The 14th heat saw Hawaii?s Kevin Sullivan accompany Dos Santos into Round 2 after claiming runner-up spot, whereas America?s Cory Arrambide and Hawaii?s Chris Foster finished third and fourth respectively, which resulted in their ejection from the contention for the event title.

With promising talent from around the globe in contention for the attractive $250,000 prize purse on offer, it was only natural to expect the day to be full of thrilling performances and outstanding finishes.

The conditions continued to remain challenging on the second active day of the competition, but that still did not close the gates to exquisite tube riding.

Pitted against Gillette, Collazo and Rothman during the 13th heat, Toyon had his work cut out for him.

The French surfer scored a 5.07 and 4.50 off his best-two waves to get to a heat-total of 9.57 points, which proved to be sufficient to earn him the top spot.

Gillette finished in second place with a heat-total of 7.40 points, which included a 3.83 and 3.57 points.

Collazo and Rothman finished with a heat-total of 6.93 and 5.57 points respectively, consequently getting eliminated from the event.

The 14th heat saw Dos Santos emerging triumphant after getting the better of Sullivan, Arrambide and Foster.

The Brazilian surfer got off to an impressive start, earning a 7.67 off his first business-wave and backing it up with a 4.17-point ride, thus finishing with a heat-total of 11.84 points.

Sullivan finished in second place after scoring a 5.83 and 5.27 off his best-two waves for a heat-total of 11.10 points.

Arrambide finished third with a heat-total of 8.26 points, while Foster had to settle for fourth place after registering a heat-total of 1.43 points.

Sony contemplated a PS3 version of Baldur?s Gate: Enhanced Edition

Sony considered greenlighting the development of a PlayStation 3 version of Baldur?s Gate: Enhanced Edition but the cost of a redesign was too high, Beamdog boss Trent Oster has revealed.

?We were approached by Sony to bring the game to PSN, so I counter-proposed what I thought it would cost for us to do it right,? Oster told Shacknews.

?For me, to make Baldur?s Gate Enhanced Edition a good experience on a console would require a very heavy redesign for the entire control and input scheme.?

Sony wanted a quality product but couldn?t make the numbers work, he said.

?We're big fans of Baldur's Gate, so we want the game to be great. Without a large scale effort we just could not make a product we could be proud of and Sony decided not to proceed.?

Baldur?s Gate: Enhanced Edition is due out on iPad, Mac and PC on November 28.

No. 2 Kansas State, Klein upset 52-24 at Baylor

WACO, Texas (AP) ? Collin Klein and second-ranked Kansas State can still get to a BCS game. Getting to the BCS championship game is all but lost.

"Anger, frustration, obviously disappointment," Wildcats tight end Travis Tannahill said as he described his feelings after a 52-24 loss at Baylor on Saturday night. "Confused. We just don't know what went wrong. We had a good week of practice. We felt prepared, everything we've done the last 10 games."

Except win.

"It's a hard one," Klein said.

Glasco Martin ran for three touchdowns, Lache Seastrunk had 185 yards rushing with an 80-yard score and the Bears again upset the BCS picture with a late-season victory.

A week after the Wildcats (10-1, 7-1 Big 12) took over the No. 1 spot in the BCS standings following defending national champion Alabama's loss, it now looks like it's going to somebody else's turn at the top.

Maybe Notre Dame, which could get its championship shot after Kansas State and No. 1 Oregon both lost. And the Crimson Tide suddenly is back in the title picture, along with a couple of other SEC teams.

Also, K-State quarterback Klein may be a Heisman Trophy front-runner no more after throwing three interceptions and getting sacked twice while being pressured and harassed all night. He threw for 286 yards and two touchdowns, but had only 39 yards on 17 carries with a score.

On first-and-goal from the 6 in the fourth quarter, Klein had four straight carries and couldn't score ? twice trying from the 1.

"I don't know if I would call it getting smacked in the mouth, but they took it to us," coach Bill Snyder said. "I really thought we prepared well, but as we found out, we didn't. I don't think we handled the situation as well as we should have been able to."

Nick Florence, Baylor's successor to Heisman winner Robert Griffin III, completed 20 of 32 passes for 238 yards, and ran nine times for 47 yards. Both of his passing touchdowns came in the first half when the Bears (5-5, 2-5) jumped out to a 28-7 lead.

"All week we believed we were going to beat them and if we did we weren't going to be surprised when it happened," Florence said.

It was on the same weekend last November, on another Saturday night in Waco, when Griffin and Baylor upset then fifth-ranked Oklahoma after two teams ahead of the Sooners had already lost that day.

Kansas State has plenty of time for this loss to simmer. The Wildcats have Thanksgiving week off before playing their regular season finale Dec. 1 at home against No. 18 Texas.

If the Wildcats beat Texas, they will be guaranteed at least a share of the Big 12 title and get the league's automatic BCS spot.

That may be the only solace after such a crushing loss against Baylor, which still needs to win another game to be bowl eligible.

The Bears hadn't beaten an opponent ranked so high since a 13-7 win over No. 2 Tennessee in the Sugar Bowl on New Year's Day 1957. They tied No. 1 Texas during the 1941 season.

Students and fans dressed in gold swarmed the field to celebrate when Saturday night's game ended.

Klein, who finished 27 of 50 passing, had thrown only three interceptions the first 10 games.

After Martin's 2-yard TD put Baylor up 28-7 with 2:54 left in the first half, Kansas State scored 10 consecutive points before the break ? and then got the ball to start the second half, only to have Klein throw his second interception.

Martin finished with 113 yards rushing.

There was a classic 13-yard run by Klein to start the second half, then two deep incompletions before he was picked off by Sam Holl, who returned it to the Kansas State 38. Four plays later, after a Florence 13-yard keeper, Martin scored on a 4-yard run to make it 35-17.

"We gained a little bit of momentum and we just couldn't sustain anything consistently over time," Klein said. "We definitely knew we were going to have to play well to win. They just played better than we did."

The Wildcats then got a 50-yard kickoff return from Tramaine Thompson, but Klein had three consecutive incompletions leading to a punt that pinned Baylor at its 1.

Florence threw an interception, Randall Evans grabbing the ball at the 1 but immediately getting dragged down by intended receiver Terrance Williams. Klein plunged in from a yard out on the next play, but that would be the last score for the Wildcats.

On the first play after Klein was picked off by Joe Williams in the end zone late in the third quarter, Seastrunk took a handoff and raced 80 yards for the score.

Chris Harper had 11 catches for 123 yards for the Wildcats.

Baylor scored less than 2 minutes into the game on Florence's 38-yard TD to Tevin Reese after completing passes to different receivers on each of the first four plays.

The Bears then tried a short kickoff that K-State recovered. To make it worse, a 15-yard penalty for interfering with the returner set the Wildcats up at the Baylor 38 and led to Klein's 8-yard TD run.

A holding call wiped out a 95-yard return by Antwan Goodley on the ensuing kickoff, but the Bears regrouped to go 75 yards in 11 plays for Florence's 12-yard TD run that made it 14-7.

Early in the second quarter, Klein was picked off by Williams on a deep throw.

K-State had a fumble recovery nullified by an offside call. The Wildcats jumped again on a third-and-9, and Florence took off running for a 10-yard gain, plus an additional 15 yards when Dante Barnett was flagged for unnecessary roughness for lowering his shoulder and a hard hit on the Baylor quarterback, who threw an interception two plays later.

About the only stretch that Klein really looked like himself was that closing 2 minutes of the first half.

On the first play after Martin's score, Klein threw a 36-yard pass to Harper and 5 yards to Tyler Lockett. After a pass interference penalty against Baylor in the end zone put the ball at the 7, Klein threw a TD to Harper,

Baylor then went three-and-out, with Barnett preventing a first down with his open-field tackle of Reese on third down.

The Wildcats then had a 10-play drive in 51 seconds, capped by Anthony Cantele's 23-yard field goal on the last play of the half, right after Thompson's 22-yard reception.

Crave a Twinkie? The price is going up fast online - TwinCities.com

SAN FRANCISCO?Twinkies are being sold on the Internet like exquisite delicacies.

Hours after Twinkie-maker Hostess announced its plans to close its doors forever, people flocked to stores to fill their shopping baskets with boxes of the cream-filled sponge cakes and their sibling snacks?Ding Dongs, Ho Hos and Zingers.

Late Friday and Saturday, the opportunists took to eBay and Craigslist. They began marketing their hoard to whimsical collectors and junk-food lovers for hundreds?and in some cases?thousands of dollars. That's a fat profit margin, when you consider the retail price for a box of 10 Twinkies is roughly $5.

Greg Edmonds of Sherman, Texas is among those who believe Twinkies are worth more now that Hostess Brands Inc. has closed its bakeries. He lost his job as a sales representative eight months ago, so he is hoping to make some money feeding the appetites of Twinkie fans and connoisseurs

After spending a couple hours driving around to stores Friday, Edmonds wound up with 16 boxes of Twinkies and Ding Dongs. He started selling them Saturday on eBay, advertising three boxes for a hefty price of $300.

"I could really use the extra money since I'm unemployed," Edmonds, 50, said. "I figure I better sell them pretty quickly because I am not sure how long this novelty is going to last."

Contrary to popular belief, Twinkies don't last forever. Most bought in stores Friday carry an expiration date of early

December,

If buyers don't bite, Edmonds isn't sure what he will do with his supply. He doesn't even like them. "I do like to have a Ding Dong, every once in a while though," he said.

John Stansel of Tampa, Fla. blanches at the thought of eating a Twinkie. He's a self-described health nut.

Yet he, too, rummaged shelves late Friday at a neighborhood Walgreens and then again early Saturday at Target and a grocery store. He spent about $100 for 20 boxes of Twinkies and Ding Dongs. His goal: sell them for about $1,000 and put the money to good use.

"Maybe I will hire a personal trainer for myself or go do some shopping at Whole Foods or donate the money to a charity to fight diabetes," Stansel, 40, said. "No matter what, I figure I am getting sugar off the streets."

Although Hostess is shutting down, it's still possible that Twinkies, Ding Dongs and Ho Hos could make a comeback. That's because Hostess is planning to sell its brands and other assets at an auction to be overseen by a U.S. bankruptcy judge in New York. Several potential buyers could emerge for Twinkies, particularly with the recent outpouring of affection.

A hearing on Hostess' liquidation request is scheduled for Monday morning.

Not all online sellers are demanding top dollar. Some boxes are being listed at $5 to $20. Others are willing to barter. "I am willing to trade a box for some good microbrew. A real quality six pack," offered a thirsty New York seller on Craigslist.

Despite his disdain for junk food, Stansel confesses he won't sell a few of his individually wrapped Twinkies. He plans to give them to his nostalgic friends and family as stocking stuffers for Christmas.

Obama departs for Asia, to make historic stop in Myanmar

ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama departed on Saturday for a three-country swing through Asia, using his first foreign trip since winning re-election to emphasize his administration's focus on the region.

Obama will make stops in Thailand, Myanmar and Cambodia. The highlight of the trip is likely to be the historic stop in Myanmar, a former pariah state. The White House hopes his visit will push the country to lock in democratic reforms.

"In addition to the democratic reforms, we've been concerned about the continued ethnic conflicts in Burma," Ben Rhodes, deputy national security adviser, told reporters accompanying Obama aboard Air Force One.

The Obama administration still refers to Myanmar by its older name, Burma.

Rhodes added the Obama administration is pressing Myanmar to break its military ties to North Korea, as well, and "we've seen them take some positive steps in that direction."

The president's tour may be overshadowed, however, by violence in the Middle East and concerns about tax and spending talks with lawmakers back home.

Obama is scheduled to return to Washington early Wednesday morning.

AP: Bera ousts GOP Rep. Dan Lungren in District 7 race

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Republican Rep. Dan Lungren has lost his re-election bid to Democratic challenger Ami Bera in one of California's most hotly contested congressional contests.

Voters from the Sacramento suburbs ousted the veteran lawmaker in the race for the state's newly redrawn 7th Congressional District. This was the second attempt for Bera, a 45-year-old physician who failed to unseat Lungren two years ago.

Bera challenged Lugren back in 2010 but came up short by 7 percentage points.

The Associated Press called the race for Bera on Thursday. He defeated Lungren 51.1 percent to 48.9 percent.

"It's quite an honor to serve residents of Sacramento County. There's no greater privilege," Bera said.

Bera's win adds to Democratic gains in California's congressional races. The state's majority party benefited from an independent redistricting process that was in full effect for the first time this year.

Bera believes he won because people are ready for a change. He also believes redistricting could have played a part.

Before, the district had more 9,000 more Republicans than Democrats. After redistricting, there were 5,000 more Democrats than Republicans.

"I think most of us want to move past Democrat vs. Republican," Bera said.?"I think we want to find common values that bind us together as Sacramentans."

Before the Nov. 6 election, California's congressional delegation had 33 Democrats, 19 Republicans and one vacancy in a Democratic district.

Outgoing congressman Lungren hasn't called Bera yet. The Associate Press said Lungren would not to concede, to which Bera replied that he thanks Lungren for his many years of service.

"The AP has called the race. Let's honor him," Bera said.?"He'll do the right thing when he's ready."
